Published by Chinanews in Guangzhou on 9th February (By Cai Minjie and Yin Rui) According to the news published by the Bureau of Civil Affairs of Guangzhou Municipality, Guangzhou plans to inject a fund of nearly RMB 4 billion in 2015 for increasing investment in the undertakings for people’s livelihood, strengthening protection of the baseline of people’s livelihood and lifting the minimum living standard, and over 50% of the fund will be used for the program of improving elderly care services and reforming the elderly care service sector.

Relevant responsible person from the Bureau of Civil Affairs of Guangzhou Municipality indicates that Guangzhou will continue to exert its best strength in the overall reform of the elderly care service sector by investing over RMB 2 billion for improving the level of professional elderly care services. This year, Guangzhou will continue to make great efforts in promoting the construction of elderly care organizations, with a plan for investing RMB 500 million in the expansion of Guangzhou Senior Home and the construction of Guangzhou No.2 Senior Home, elderly care organizations in all districts and the demonstration center of elderly care services at home, and investing over RMB 100 million in the “Silver-Age Wellbeing Campaign”, which is about buying comprehensive accidental injury insurance for the elderly people with financial difficulties in the star light elderly homes, in-home elderly care service organizations and elderly day care organizations.

With regard to social work services, the Bureau of Civil Affairs of Guangzhou Municipality intends to invest RMB 334.54 million in the government program of procuring social work services. Social work organizations and social worker talent teams will be developed and trained, the government’s system for procuring social worker services will be optimized, and the quality of social work services procured by the government will be improved, so as to actually enable the social organizations, government departments and all sectors of the community to supply and supplement what are needed by each other.
