Chengdu steps up its campaign to further take care of its senior citizens. It is a city that has always been concerned about living conditions of its senior citizens.

In 2014, the Southwest China’s city carried out work plans to take care of empty-nest elderly – the elderly deprived of family care – in 116 local communities by regularly visiting them and improving the nursing service quality.

Furthermore, Chengdu’s senior citizens’ work committee gave allowances to nearly 217,000 senior citizens, valued at 91.5 million yuan ($14.5 million).

The year 2015 is the final year of Chengdu’s12th Five-Year Plan for the care of the elderly. In addition to improving existing services, the committee plans to make accident insurance among the elderly more popular as a complementary support for their health care.
