According to a report by the Guizhou provincial government, Guizhou will raise 300 million yuan ($48.09 million) to build nursing institutions, Guizhou Daily reported.

By the end of 2012, Guizhou had 50,000 nursing beds, or only 10.5 nursing beds for every 1,000 elderly people.

Statistics showed that Guizhou's nursing capability was very limited, so it needed to build more nursing facilities for the elderly.

The Guizhou provincial government has made a decision to accelerate the construction of public nursing institutions for the elderly.

By the end of 2014, it plans to build and extend 120 rural nursing homes, nine elderly hospitals and 3,000 houses for the elderly in the countryside.
