Elderly residents from Gouqutou village, Wenxi county, Shanxi province, take part in community singing activities arranged by the government on April 12. Day care centers for the elderly have been set up throughout the county to provide a better social life for the elderly.

 
Lunch is provided at the daycare center in Gouqutou village, Wenxi county. The county has built 62 daycare centers, serving more than 1,000 rural seniors, with a further 45 centers to be built this year.

Games such as Chinese chess are played among the elderly, many of whom have been left-behind by family members seeking work in the city.

In Baidi village of Wenxi, elderly residents are provided with a place to relax and socialize. The issue of China's aging population is taken seriously by many governments across the country, which are implementing policies to ensure elderly people receive necessary care in their twilight years.
